What is SMP ?

SMP is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure where tens of thousands of micro follicles are replicated and placed in balding or thinning areas of your scalp allowing us to recreate the look of a fully shaven head for men and also add fulness or thickness for both men and women. The results are nothing short of amazing and the most common feedback we receive from our clients is that they wish they had done it sooner. Scalp Micro Pigmentation or SMP is a hair loss treatment where tens of thousands of micro follicle replications are skilfully tattoed on to the scalp where there is baldness and thinning that creates the appearance of a new follicle.

At Scalp Micro we offer 3 types of SMP:

1. Our Shaved or Buzz Cut Look

This is the most common type of treatment and recommended for men who are experiencing male balding between a 4-7 on the Norwood Scale. For this treatment, the existing hair is shaved down to around 0.3-0.4mm in length and then we simple add the replicated follicles to the balding areas and blend the treatment in with your existing hair to achieve the buzz cut look.

2-4 sessions are required with a minimum of 3 days between sessions and each session is around 3-4hrs.

2. Our Density Treatment

This type of treatment is suitable for men and woman who are experiencing balding or thinning in certain areas, but still have hair. Most commonly the Density treatment is for men and women who are in the early stages of thinning or balding or have suffered hair loss as a result of alopecia or postpartum hairloss.
We will fill in any thinning areas leaving you with the visible appearance of fuller, thicker hair. For this treatment you will not need to cut or trim your hair.

2-4 sessions are required with a minimum of 3 days between sessions and each session is around 3-4hrs.

2. Our Scar Camouflage Treatment

We carefully and skilfully place the replicated hair follicles within the scarred area to completely cover the scarred area so there is no visible scar. This treatmemt is effective for any form of post operative or accidental scarring.

Marc is originally from Melbourne and after moving to the GC with his family 9yrs ago was looking for a new direction is his life and career after working for himself for over 20 yrs in business.

Fortunately Marc was introduced to scalp micro pigmentation in late 2015 through a medical acquaintance and in February of 2016 he competed his SMP training and soon after established Scalp Micro and began treating clients. In 2021 he also completed a Masters Course to refresh and up skill with 2 of the Industries best SMP practitioners.

Marc has performed hundreds of treatments on both men and women from varying ages and backgrounds and has performed treatments on every type of hair loss imaginable and has achieved amazing results.

Through an initial consultation with Marc he will be able to personalise a treatment for you to achieve your own goals. Marc’s own experience with his own hair loss and having undergone SMP himself, makes him second to none in understanding your desired outcomes.

Pricing

Depending on the degree of your hair loss, here is an approximate guide of what you might expect to pay for SMP. This is a very highly skilled practice which requires intense focus and ability. If you find someone out there offering it for less then this and it seems to good to be true it generally is. A sad part of our business is fixing up the work of others. So have it done right the first time. You wouldn’t search for the cheapest plastic surgeon and SMP is no different to have it performed properly. We also offer Afterpay & Zip as payment options.

FAQs

Is it detectible ?

No. With a skilled and experienced SMP practitioner is it virtually undetectable and almost impossible to tell the difference between your existing hair and the replicated follicles.

Is the treatment painful ?

No. SMP typically isn’t painful for the majority of clients and any discomfort felt is mild and can be counteracted with a suitable numbing gel. Unlike regular tattooing SMP isn’t as intruisive.

How long will my treatment last ?

Typically around 3-5 yrs with good care, but can vary depending on your lifestyle and everyones skin is different. SMP is designed to lighten and soften as you age but won’t suddenly disappear. Most clients will require 1 session of about 3hrs duration after the 3-5 yrs and then you’re good to go again for another 3+ yrs.
